About
Imran Khalil, M.D., Ph.D., is a structural and interventional cardiologist with Flowers Medical Group. Since earning his medical degree at the University of Damascus, Dr. Khalil has worked in clinical and educational settings across the country, and internationally, training other cardiologists on various lifesaving cardiac procedures. He has extensive experience in performing complex procedures, such as cardiac catheterizations and transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR), and works closely with other clinical departments to manage patient care and reduce risks of complications.
Before moving to Dothan, Dr. Khalil was an assistant professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine and also served as the director of structural cardiology program at Roudebush Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Indianapolis, where he worked to expand the structural interventions program of the facility by training interventional cardiologists for structural interventions as well as training nurses and other clinical staff in the appropriate care of patients undergoing these procedures.
Dr. Khalil has contributed to multiple professional publications and research projects throughout his career and completed a fellowship in molecular nuclear cardiology and translational research at Yale New Haven Medical Center in New Haven, CT. In addition to his medical education and experience, he earned a doctorate degree in biomedical engineering.
Dr. Khalil is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He also maintains certifications from the National Board of Echocardiography and the Cardiovascular Computed Tomography Board.
