She received her Bachelor of Medicine degree from University of Florida. She went on to receive her master's degree at the University of Nebraska. She is credentialed through the National Commission of Physicians Assistants.
Mrs. Helms specializes in bioidentical hormone replacement. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine. In the fifteen years she has been working with hormones, she has traveled to multiple conferences specializing in hormone replacement education. She started with her first conference with the PCCA (Professional Compounding Centers of America).
