About
Emily E. Cannon, M.D., FACS, joined Wiregrass Surgical in 2013 and was the first female general surgeon in Dothan, AL. A native of Enterprise, AL, she received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude in biology from the University of Alabama in 2003. In 2008, she graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine with her medical degree. Dr. Cannon then completed her internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was awarded the distinction of “Outstanding Resident Role Model” by the UAB medical students.
Patient care is Dr. Cannon’s primary concern. She is a compassionate surgeon and strives to always do what is best for every patient. She enjoys the broad scope of her practice including, but not limited to, breast cancer surgery, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, weight loss surgery and endoscopic procedures.
Dr. Cannon and her husband met during residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In her free time, Dr. Cannon enjoys going to the beach, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
